Eri Eguchi
I am a Japanese writer specialising in animals and nature. I have written several children’s books and numerous articles for books and magazines.
One of my articles, originally written in Japanese for National Geographic about the forest of Meiji Shrine, was later translated and published in the French and Taiwanese editions.
I was awarded the 21st Japan Picture Book Prize for Yura Yura Chin-anago, which humorously depicts the daily life of garden eels in the aquarium.
My latest picture book, After a Whale Dies, won multiple awards in Japan and is included in The White Ravens 2025, a list published by the International Youth Library in Munich.
